Jan 9, 2015 | AFE News

AFE survivor, Ruby Graupera-Cassimiro, shares her miraculous and rare survival on the Dr. Oz show. Shortly after the birth of her daughter, Ruby suffered an amniotic fluid embolism (AFE). Despite 45 minutes of aggressive life saving measures Ruby continued to have no pulse. Just as doctors gave up hope and brought her family back to say good-bye, Ruby’s heart began to beat again!

Her story has been covered by nearly every major news organization including the Washington Post, Today Show, Good Morning America, Fox News, and was featured in hundreds of social media sites and blogs. Her story has been read and shared by thousands across the globe.

The AFE Foundation knows just how rare this story of survival is. We will continue to offer vital information and support to Ruby and others affected by AFE. We also remain vigilant in seeking the answers so many deserve through our research at Baylor College of Medicine.
