AFE Foundation Featured in People Magazine

AFE Foundation Executive Director, Miranda Klassen, and Board Chair, Amy De Simone, were recently featured in People Magazine’s special print edition “Heroes Among Us”. The magazine was available on newsstands across the U.S. in July and August of 2016.

The story, originally featured on People.com, shared their harrowing and near fatal birth stories where each suffered an amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) and how they went on to begin the AFE Foundation. The article highlighted the work of the organization and their research efforts at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

“This article has given us a wonderful platform and opportunity to raise awareness of AFE and highlight the important work we are doing. We know that the true heroes are all of the amazing women who have lost their lives to this devastating condition or have suffered significant neurological damage. They and their families are the ones most deserving of this recognition”, says Miranda.
